Medicinal Aloe Vera

Aloe Vera, has been used medically for as long as recorded history. Used as a topical ointment for skin conditions, Aloe Vera can help heal wounds, ulcers and burns by applying the gel to the skin. The Roman’s used aloe externally to heal bruises, mouth irritations, ease hemorrhoids and salve boils. They also used aloe vera, internally but it is very bitter tasting. But when it is mixed with sweet pomegranate juice, as it is in poga moonga, aloe vera becomes a much tastier drink . Taken internally, it can help induce sleep and cleanse the stomach. There are many other uses of aloe vera as a medical topical ointment. It can be used on insect bites, sores, sties, dry skin, athletes foot, rashes, blisters, conjunctivitis, acne, sunburn, preventing scaring, warts, shingles, wrinkles, eczema and even herpes.

Internally taken, aloe is showing it can help fight against AIDS because of its ability to stimulate the immune system. It is also been found to help cancer patients by activating white blood cells and reduce the growth of cancerous cells. It also seems to improve rheumatism and arthritis pain, liver problems, kidney infections, heartburn, lowers blood sugar in diabetics, congestion, urinary tract infections, prostate problems, colitis, stomach ulcers, asthma, intestinal worms, liver problems, hemorrhoids and is a great detoxifier. Many people who already take aloe vera internally report that they just feel overall healthier than they did before using it.

Medicinal aloe vera used externally as a topical lotion come in gels, lotions and creams. It is applied liberally to the infected area, as much as needed. It is also used in many beauty products because of it healing abilities. Internally taken aloe vera comes in caplets and drinks. Pure, natural aloe vera juice itself is bitter but it can be mixed with fruit or vegetable juice.

The recommended dose for an adult is about 2 ounces with each meal. Be sure to check all the ingredients when buying manufactured aloe juice. Many companies add Papaya, Citric Acid and Potassium Sorbate which are flavor enhancers and preservatives but poga moonga combines it with moringa and pomegranate juice, that not only makes it tasty but very nutritious. Make sure, no matter what aloe you take, that it doesn’t contain Sodium Benzoate, which is mixed with Vitamin C in soft drinks, it causes benzene, a carcinogenic substance, which is linked to cancer.
